Sports Stars

During the last few years we have received numerous applications for funding from individuals who are aspiring sports stars in a variety of fields. It is amazing to see these young people's achievements and we are very proud to support them.

Oliver Massingham

Oliver is a discus thrower and trains with CONAC in Norwich. He is currently the Norfolk Schools Champion in Shot and Discus for 2015 and for the previous two years. Oliver is currently ranked 4th in the UK for discus and has ambitions to represent GB at junior and senior level. Read more about Oliver here

Joe Kerrison

Joe is a very talented young boxer who trains at Lowestoft Amateur Boxing Club. Having recently competed in Russia at the European Schoolboy Championships, Joe performed exceptionally well and came away with a silver medal and is now ranked second in Europe. Read here and here for articles on Joe. Joe continues to go from strength to strength and is now focussing on the national camps being held in Sheffield in January.

Scott Greeves

Scott is a middle distance runner who started his running career at the age of 10. Scott was the winner of all three Climate Run/Fit for your Future events organised by The Mason Trust. He is currently studying at the UEA. Scott is working towards lowering his 1500m PB time in order to qualify for the European U23 Championships.

Evie Rodwell

Evie is a young gymnast who trains with Long Stratton Gymnastics Club. She recently travelled to Milan to represent GB at the World Down's Syndrome Gymnastics Championships. She had a fantastic result and claimed a Bronze medal! Her next target is to attend the World DS Games in Florence in July 2016. Read more about Evie's medal joy here.

Katherine Hughes

Katherine was part of the football squad from Thorpe St Andrew School who took part in the Gothia Cup in Sweden in July 2015. This is the Youth World Cup and is the biggest tournament in world football with over 1,500 teams taking part. She continues to train with the school team.

Grace Leech

Grace is an extremely talented swimmer from City of Norwich Swimming Club. She has competed at regional and national level. In August this year she competed in the ASA English Swimming Championships in Sheffield, achieving a new personal best time of 30.30s in the 50m butterfly placing her 6th in England for her age group.  Grace continues to train to try and improve on this impressive performance with the aim of achieving Winter regional and Winter national qualifying times. Grace is still training hard seven times a week and looking forward to competing again in the New Year.

Steven Parsonage

Steven is a member of Norwich Rowing Club. This year he won a silver medal at the World Under 23 Championships. He was selected for a spot in the senior Great Britain squad for the World Championships in Aiguebelette, France. Click here to read an interview with Steven. Results

Jack Rodwell

Jack is a member of Diss Athletics Club and competes in the longer 800m distance. Last year Jack won a silver medal at the England Athletics UK National Indoor Championships where he ran a personal best. Jack continues to go from strength to strength. Read more about Jack here.

Ellie Drake

Ellie is a member of Diss Athletics Club. She runs a variety of distances and competes locally and nationally. For more information on Ellie click here.

Richard Taylor

Richard is a sprinter and currently studying at Loughborough University. He continues to train hard and gain valuable experience by competing all over the UK and Europe. for more information on Richard click here.

Emily Woods

Emily is a five time British Rollerskating Champion and also Great Yarmouth's Young Sports Person of the Year. Emily was also selected as a member of the Great British squad for the Cup of Europe in France which took place in July. Emily cam 11th in the Solo Dance Youth - Compulaory Dances, 13th in the solo Dance Youth - Free Dance and 12th in the Solo Dance Youth - Final. Sam Parfitt

Sam is a former tennis player who won several tennis titles before moving to the US on a college tennis scholarship. Despite suffering various injuries which unfortunately had to curtail his tennis career he has gone on to establish a number of projects working with young people. He is currently Director of Athletics at St Peter's School in Chatanooga, Tennessee. Read more about Sam here
